In Old Testament times, when a person was taken into the fold of someones family and a blood covenant was made between them, it was customary for the person entering into the family to be given the name and protection of that family.
And so it is when we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we take on the rights to be sons and daughters of God, through the covenant Jesus made for us as the Blood of the Lamb on Calvary. He has removed our sinful natures and given us His name in exchange - Healer, Advocate, Word of life....
This song reflects on the names we had and the names we now receive as Sons and Daughters of our Heavenly Father.
